The researchers found that if they had parents who were nervous and overprotective, they spent less time outside. As a result, the children got less exercise and had a 10-13% higher chance of being overweight or obese. Some researchers also say that overprotectiveness can have a big effect on how children see the world and interact with others, which might cause other long-term health problems.
